Spam protection that keeps fake bookings out

Every CaliDiary booking form has a hidden spam trap that catches automated form-fillers, a limit on how many bookings one visitor can make in a short time, and Google reCAPTCHA with your own keys. All of it is on every plan.

Available Plans: Free, Solo, Pro
Illustration: fake bookings stopped while real visitors book as normal.

Everything about spam protection

On every plan

  • A hidden spam trap: a field real visitors never see. Automated scripts fill it in, and their bookings are refused.
  • Per-visitor limits: one visitor can only make a limited number of bookings in a short time, which stops floods of fake bookings.
  • Checks on every answer: required questions, dates, emails and uploads are checked on your server, not just in the browser.
  • Requests you approve: for services where a fake booking would cost you, holding bookings until you accept them adds a human check.

Google reCAPTCHA

reCAPTCHA v3 (invisible, scoring each visit) with a v2 tick box as a fallback, using your own Google reCAPTCHA keys. It is loaded only on pages with a booking form. Using reCAPTCHA means Google receives some information about visitors, so your privacy policy should mention it; CaliDiary's suggested wording covers this.

Questions about spam protection

Do customers have to solve a puzzle?
No. The spam trap and limits are invisible to real visitors, and reCAPTCHA uses the invisible version first, only asking for a tick box if a visitor looks suspicious.
Whose reCAPTCHA keys are used?
Yours. You create keys in your own Google account and add them in CaliDiary. Nothing passes through our servers.
Is spam protection on the free plan?
Yes, all of it, including reCAPTCHA.
