Refunds and cancellations
We want you to be happy with CaliDiary. This page explains our money-back promise, how renewals and cancelling work, what happens if a payment fails, and how refunds work for our services. It is part of our terms of service.
The short version. Cancel within 14 days of a payment, first or renewal, and we refund it automatically, in full, with no questions asked. Cancel at any time in a few clicks. If a plan ends, your website keeps working on the free plan and nothing is deleted.
1. Our 14-day money-back promise (plans)
If CaliDiary isn't right for you, cancel within 14 days of a payment for a Solo or Pro plan, or for an extra website, whether it was your first payment or a renewal, and we refund that payment in full, automatically. You don't need to give a reason.
- How it works: choose "Cancel" in your account. Before you confirm, it shows exactly what happens: the amount you get back, and that the plan ends straight away. If you cancel another way (on Stripe's billing page, through Link or by emailing [email protected] from the email address of your account), the same applies.
- How it is paid: to the card or account you paid with, in the currency you paid in, including any tax you paid. An automatic refund is sent straight away; one you ask us for by email is arranged without undue delay, and at the latest within 14 days of your request. Your bank may take a few more days to show it.
- What happens next: the plan or extra website that payment was for ends straight away. Your website carries on with the free plan's features, and nothing you have added is deleted.
The promise is there for people who find CaliDiary is not right for them. After 2 automatic refunds in 12 months, refunds are no longer automatic: cancelling then lets your plan run to the end of the period you have paid for, and you can still ask us for a refund by email, which we look at under this promise. If someone uses the promise repeatedly to get paid features for free (for example, buying and asking for a refund again and again), we may decline further purchases.
2. Free trials
A free trial of Solo or Pro lasts 14 days and needs no card, so there is nothing to refund and nothing to cancel: at the end, your website simply goes back to the free plan, with nothing deleted.
3. Renewals and reminders
Paid plans renew automatically at the end of each monthly or yearly period, so your website never loses features unexpectedly.
- Before each renewal, Stripe emails you, with the date, the amount and how to cancel. This applies to plans, extra websites and a year of support.
- After each payment, you get a receipt by email.
- Forgot to cancel? Our money-back promise covers renewals too: cancel within 14 days of the renewal payment and we refund it automatically.
4. Cancelling
You can cancel at any time from your account, in a few clicks, or through Link (link.com), or by emailing us.
- Within 14 days of a payment: we refund that payment automatically and the plan ends straight away (section 1).
- Later than that: your plan stays active until the end of the period you have already paid for, and then does not renew. You can change your mind and resume it before then. There is no refund for the rest of that period, but you keep your paid features until it ends. The exceptions are in our terms: for example, if we make a change that has a significant negative effect on you, or close your account for a reason that is not your fault, we refund the unused part.
5. If a payment fails
We (or Stripe) tell you straight away and try again. Your plan keeps working for a 14-day grace period while you update your payment details. If payment still has not been made, the plan ends and your website carries on with the free plan's features. Nothing is deleted, and paying again restores everything.
6. Changing plan
- Upgrading takes effect straight away. Before you confirm, the checkout shows any amount due for the rest of your current period.
- Downgrading takes effect at the end of your current period. Your website keeps everything you have already set up; only adding more than the new plan allows is stopped.
- If you cancel within 14 days of an upgrade payment, we refund that payment automatically and your plan goes back to what it was before. It then runs to the end of the period you had already paid for, with no further refund unless that payment, too, was within 14 days.
7. Services (setup and support)
| Service | Refund |
|---|---|
| Setup and initial configuration ($50, with 3 months of support) | In full, automatically, if you cancel from your account before your setup call starts. Once the setup has been done, it cannot be refunded. If you cancel part-way, you pay only for the part already done. |
| A year of support ($250 a year, renewing yearly) | In full, automatically, if you cancel within 14 days of buying or of a renewal and have not used it since that payment. If you have already had help, we refund the amount for the rest of the year, less a fair amount for the help given. After 14 days, it cannot be refunded, and cancelling stops the next renewal. |
If a service is not provided with reasonable care and skill, tell us, and we will put it right or give you a fair refund. Our support policy describes what each service includes.
8. Your rights as a consumer
If you buy as a consumer in the UK or the European Union, the law gives you 14 days to cancel a contract made online.
- For plans, our money-back promise gives you at least the same, so you can always cancel and get your money back within 14 days of a payment, even after downloading CaliDiary Pro.
- For services, if you ask us to start within the 14 days, you lose the right to cancel once the service has been fully provided, and you pay for any part already provided (as in section 7).
These promises are in addition to your legal rights, and nothing on this page affects the rights you have by law, for example if something we supply is faulty or not as described.
9. Who handles the payment
Payments are processed by Stripe. For plans and extra websites, the checkout and receipt name Onelink, LLC (Link) as the seller: Onelink sells to you as our reseller, and it is Onelink that sends your refund and any credit note. Onelink may also refund a payment directly in some cases, under Link's terms. Our services (setup and a year of support) are sold by us, and Stripe sends the refund receipt on our behalf. You can always ask us for a refund: we arrange it with Stripe for you.
10. Chargebacks
If something is wrong, please contact us first: we can usually sort it out faster than a bank dispute. If a payment is disputed with your bank, the plan it paid for may be paused until the dispute is resolved. Your website keeps working on the free plan in the meantime, with nothing deleted.
