Time that matches the dog
A spaniel with a matted coat takes longer than a short-haired terrier. Set a service for each size or coat type, each with its own length, and CaliDiary only offers times long enough for that groom. Buffers after each one keep time for cleaning the table, bath and dryer, and the booking lock stops two dogs landing on one table.
Ask what you need to know
The booking form can ask about breed, age, temperament and vaccinations, and on Solo and Pro a follow-up question can appear only when it matters, such as asking what the dog is nervous of only when the owner says it is. Photo uploads on Solo and Pro let owners show the coat before they arrive.
Owners' details stay with you
Owners' names, phone numbers, addresses and their dogs' details are stored in your own WordPress database, never on CaliDiary's servers. Each owner has one profile with every visit and your private notes.
Nervous dogs and first visits
A first groom sets the tone for every visit after it. Offer a short puppy introduction as its own service, so young dogs meet the table, the noise and the dryer before a full groom. For dogs the owner says are nervous, the answer sits on the booking, and you can note what helped in the dog's history: a quieter time of day, no cage dryer, breaks between stages. Next time, whoever grooms the dog reads the note before it arrives.
Some groomers prefer to check nervous or very matted dogs before accepting them. Choose I'll confirm each booking myself for those services: the time is held while you look at the answers and photo, then you accept or decline.
Combined grooms, deposits and the waiting list
On Solo and Pro, owners can book several services in one visit, long grooms can take a deposit by card, and a cancelled slot is offered to the next dog on the waiting list. After the visit, owners can be asked for a review on your own review page. Text reminders are on the roadmap. See every feature and its plan on the features page.
