Acceptable use policy
This policy applies to everyone who uses CaliDiary, our website, our servers and our support. It is part of our terms of service. It does not limit your rights to the plugin code under the GPL, which our software licence explains.
1. Use CaliDiary lawfully
You must not use CaliDiary or our services:
- for anything illegal, fraudulent or harmful, or to take bookings or payments for illegal goods or services;
- to collect or use people's personal data without a lawful basis, or without telling them what you do with it;
- to collect sensitive information (such as health details) without the safeguards the law requires for it;
- to send spam or unwanted messages, including marketing to people who have not agreed to receive it, or reminders to people who have not booked with you;
- to mislead your customers, for example with false prices, hidden charges, fake reviews or false claims that times are running out;
- to harass, threaten or discriminate unlawfully against anyone, including our staff.
2. Respect our services
You must not:
- try to get into accounts, systems or data that are not yours, or test our security without following section 3;
- overload, scan, probe or attack our servers, or interfere with other customers' use of them;
- share, sell or publish licence keys, or use a licence on more websites than your plan includes;
- get around our licence checks to receive our services (updates, support or other services that run on our servers) without an active plan or trial;
- create accounts to get repeated free trials, refunds or discounts you are not entitled to;
- use automated tools to copy our website's content, or to create accounts.
3. Reporting security problems
If you find a security problem in CaliDiary or on our website, please tell us privately at [email protected], with enough detail for us to reproduce it, and give us a reasonable time to fix it before making it public. Do not access, change or delete other people's data, or disrupt our services, while you investigate. We will not take legal action against good-faith research that follows these rules, and we will tell you when the problem is fixed.
4. What happens if the rules are broken
Depending on how serious it is, we may warn you, suspend access to our services, cancel a licence key or close an account, as our terms explain. Where it is reasonable, we will warn you first. Your website keeps the data it holds. Where the law requires it, we may report illegal activity to the authorities.
