When you need it
- Your customers include businesses in other countries.
- Your accountant has told you reverse charge applies to what you sell.
Before you start
- Set up your business’s tax first: see Tax and invoices.
- Ask your accountant whether reverse charge applies to you. CaliDiary does not give tax advice, and it does not check that a tax number is real.
Step by step
-
Open CaliDiary → Settings → Tax and find Business customers.
[Screenshot to come] It will show: The “Business customers” card with “Ask ‘Booking for a business?’ on the booking form” switched on.Switching on the business question for the booking form. (Settings → Tax) -
Switch on Ask “Booking for a business?” on the booking form. Customers who say yes are asked for their business name and tax number.
-
To charge no tax to business customers in other countries, switch on reverse charge, choose your business’s country, and write the wording that should appear on those invoices.
[Screenshot to come] It will show: Reverse charge switched on, the business’s country chosen, and the invoice wording box filled in.Reverse charge switched on, with the wording that appears on those invoices. (Settings → Tax) -
Press Save. Reverse charge then applies when a customer gives a tax number and a country different from the location’s.
Tips
- The wording you type is printed on the invoice exactly as written, so copy what your accountant gives you.
- Private customers never see any of this: the extra questions appear only when someone answers yes.
- A branch with its own tax set-up is judged against its own country, not your head office: see Give a location its own tax set-up.
